Liverpool Women Football Club is grieving the sudden loss of their kit manager, Jonathan Humble, who passed away at the age of 39 following a brief illness. The club announced his death on their official website on March 6, 2024, revealing that Humble had succumbed to his condition at Leighton Hospital in Crewe after falling ill at home on the evening of March 3.

In their statement, Liverpool FC expressed deep sorrow at the news of Humble’s passing. They conveyed their condolences, stating, “The thoughts of everyone at the club are with Jon’s family, friends, and loved ones at this sad time.”

Humble joined Liverpool Women earlier this year and quickly made a significant impression on those around him. Gareth Taylor, the head coach of Liverpool Women, paid tribute to Humble, highlighting his commitment and influence within a short span of time. “We may have only had Jon at AXA Melwood for a short space of time, but he made a huge impact,” Taylor remarked. He emphasized Humble’s unwavering dedication, noting, “His meticulous standards never dropped, and he was always on hand to help a player or staff member.”

The loss resonated deeply within the club. Andy O’Boyle, the managing director of Liverpool Women, referred to Humble as “an outstanding professional and a person of the highest character.” He expressed his devastation at the news, stating, “All our love and thoughts are with Jon’s wife, Claire, and his three children at this time.” O’Boyle recalled his long-standing acquaintance with Humble during his tenure at Manchester United, emphasizing the high regard in which Humble was held across the football community.

O’Boyle noted, “Although we were only lucky enough to have him with us for a couple of months, his pride in his work and his drive to set the highest standards shone through from day one.” He also mentioned that during a visit to Humble in the hospital, O’Boyle encountered individuals from various clubs, a testament to the admiration and respect Humble garnered in the sport.

The emotional tributes highlight not only the personal loss felt by colleagues and friends but also the impact Humble had in his brief time at the club. His legacy will undoubtedly remain in the hearts of those he worked with and the community at large. As Liverpool Women navigate this difficult time, their focus remains on supporting Humble’s family and honoring his memory.
