Manchester United Targets Antoine Semenyo Amid Release Clause News
Manchester United has been alerted to the potential availability of Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo following reports of a release clause in his new contract. The 25-year-old has made a significant impact this season, scoring six goals so far, and netted 11 times last season. His stellar performances have caught the attention of several top clubs, including Manchester United, who have long admired his talent.
Semenyo signed a five-year contract with Bournemouth during the summer, a deal confirmed shortly after the club faced strong interest from Premier League rivals such as Liverpool. According to talkSPORT, Bournemouth agreed to include a release clause in the contract to secure Semenyo’s long-term commitment after his impressive displays last season. Although the exact terms of the clause have not been disclosed, reports suggest an asking price of approximately £75 million.
Transfer Interest Grows Amid Strong Performances
Previously, Arsenal had shown interest in Semenyo, but their focus shifted after acquiring new players like Ebere Eze and Noni Madueke this summer. Despite strengthening their frontline with additions such as Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, Manchester United remains linked with Semenyo, who has also garnered attention from Tottenham Hotspur. Speculation continues regarding Bournemouth’s interest in holding onto Semenyo, especially after the addition of his international teammate, Mohammed Kudus, during a busy transfer window.
Semenyo has also been active on the international stage, representing Ghana in World Cup qualifying matches. He played a key role in helping Ghana secure victories against the Central African Republic and Comoros, ensuring the team finished at the top of their group and qualified for the upcoming World Cup in North America. This achievement marks a significant turnaround after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
Semenyo’s Growth and Impact at Bournemouth
Reflecting on his development at Bournemouth, Semenyo stated, “I’ve grown so much at the club, both on and off the pitch, and I’m really happy to have signed ahead of returning for pre-season.” He expressed gratitude towards the fans, staff, and teammates, emphasizing the supportive environment at the club. His excitement to continue working hard as the new season approaches has been evident.
Semenyo has made a strong start to the current campaign, scoring twice in the opening match against Liverpool and contributing goals against teams like Brighton and Leeds. His performance in a thrilling comeback against Fulham, where he added two goals and an assist, further showcased his potential. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola praised Semenyo’s growth, stating, “Semenyo is in a very good spot, he is improving every season. I think he has confidence, and we have to keep him there and encourage him to improve areas that he can improve.”
As the transfer window continues, all eyes will remain on Semenyo, whose exceptional form is likely to attract further interest from elite clubs, including Manchester United. The potential release clause adds an intriguing layer to his future, as the club navigates a competitive transfer landscape.
