Swiatek Climbs to No. 3 After Wimbledon Victory; Anisimova Enters Top 10

Iga Swiatek’s triumph at Wimbledon has propelled her to No. 3 in the WTA rankings, marking a significant achievement in her career. After defeating Amanda Anisimova, who finished as the runner-up, Swiatek secured her position just behind the top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka and the second-ranked Coco Gauff. Anisimova’s remarkable performance at the tournament also allowed her to break into the top 10 for the first time, landing at No. 7.

Anisimova’s journey over the past year has been particularly noteworthy. Ranked No. 189 just a year ago, she faced challenges in qualifying for Wimbledon, ultimately falling short. This year, the American was seeded and made a stunning run to her first Grand Slam final. She achieved a significant victory over No. 1 seed Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals before succumbing to Swiatek in the final, where the match concluded with a score of 6-0, 6-0.

Reflecting on her success, Anisimova shared her astonishment: “I look at it, and I’m like, ‘Oh, wow.’ It’s kind of a shock at first, and I can’t really process it. Then it’s like, ‘Oh, yeah, I’ve played very well so far this year,’ so it kind of makes sense.” Her climb from No. 12 to No. 7 in the rankings is a testament to her hard work. “It’s super special and a surreal feeling to be in the top 10,” she added. “If I thought to myself last year, if someone told me that I’ll be breaking the top 10 by now, I don’t know, it would be pretty surprising to me considering where I was last summer.”

Swiatek’s elevation in the rankings comes after a year that saw her drop to No. 8, largely due to a lack of tournament finals. Her strong performance in a grass-court event prior to Wimbledon boosted her to No. 4, and her latest victory has now placed her just below Sabalenka and Gauff.

In the ATP rankings, Jannik Sinner has maintained his position at No. 1 following his victory at Wimbledon, which marks his fourth Grand Slam title. Carlos Alcaraz, the two-time defending champion who lost to Sinner in the final, remains in the No. 2 spot. Taylor Fritz, a semifinalist at the tournament, improved his ranking from No. 5 to No. 4, swapping places with Jack Draper.

A notable rise came from Laura Siegemund, who jumped 50 places to No. 54 after reaching the quarterfinals. In contrast, Barbora Krejcikova, who won the championship in 2024, experienced a significant drop, falling 62 spots to No. 78 after exiting in the third round.

Flavio Cobolli made headlines with his Grand Slam quarterfinal debut, moving from No. 24 to No. 19 after his match against Novak Djokovic. Meanwhile, Ben Shelton rose one position to No. 9, and Andrey Rublev climbed four spots to secure the No. 10 ranking.
