Scotland Unveils Top 10 Nurseries in 2025 League Table

The latest league table from The Times has revealed the top nursery schools in Scotland for 2025, based on extensive evaluations of every nursery and preschool across the country. The findings highlight establishments that excelled in providing quality childcare and nurturing environments for young children.
Top Performers in Scottish Childcare
Leading the rankings is Wellside Kindergarten in Falkirk, which has garnered attention for its innovative use of the Hygge approach, a method originating in Denmark that emphasizes comfort and wellbeing. According to the Care Inspectorate, the nursery has created a “calm and relaxed atmosphere” that significantly supports children’s overall health.
The facility, housed in a converted Victorian villa, allows children to partake in meal preparation, including cooking in a pizza oven and enjoying lunches with their families. Their commitment to safety and nurturing has earned them numerous awards, solidifying their reputation as Scotland’s finest nursery.
Following closely in the rankings is Poppies Pre-School Ltd in Laurencekirk, Aberdeenshire, which is recognized for its “exceptionally high quality childcare in a safe, stimulating and caring environment.” This nursery has built a strong reputation for fostering an enriching learning atmosphere for children.
Coming in third is Lomond School Nursery in Helensburgh, praised for its sector-leading childcare practices. Other notable mentions include Woodlea Children’s Centre in Dundee, which secured the fourth position, and Green Acres Nursery in Glasgow, rounding out the top five.
