Dodgy Celebrates 35 Years with New Single and Special Events

Dodgy, the iconic British indie band, is set to unveil their new single, “Hello Beautiful,” on September 26, 2025, marking a significant return after nearly a decade. This track, released under Flip Flop Records, embodies the essence of the band, featuring shimmering guitars, uplifting harmonies, and an infectious sense of optimism. It is not just a nostalgic nod to their past but also a vibrant showcase of their renewed energy, heralding a new chapter in their musical journey after 35 years together.
New Music and a Special Launch Event
“Hello Beautiful” serves as the lead single from Dodgy’s forthcoming sixth studio album, which shares the same name and is expected to be released in May 2026. This upcoming record is particularly significant, as it will be the band’s first release since 2016‘s What Are We Fighting For. According to the band, the new material represents their most accomplished work yet, reflecting their experiences over the past decade in a collection that feels both timeless and relevant.
To celebrate this milestone, Dodgy will host a special launch event at the Bacchus Wine Bar in Kingston upon Thames on the same day as the single’s release. This venue holds sentimental value for the band, as it was the original home of the Dodgy Club, where they first gained recognition on the live music circuit. The timing is particularly poignant, as it coincides with the 35th anniversary of the venue’s launch, offering a heartfelt tribute to the beloved club night.
Touring with Fellow Indie Icons
In addition to the single release, Dodgy will embark on an official UK headlining tour starting at The Liquid Room in Edinburgh on October 2, 2025. Following this, they will join fellow indie legends Black Grape for a series of performances, beginning at Queen Margaret Union in Glasgow on November 28, 2025, and concluding at Manchester Academy just before Christmas on December 20, 2025. These shows will not only feature live music but also offer intimate opportunities for fans to meet the band, sign copies of the new single, and reconnect with the community that first embraced them.
Reflecting on the new single, lead vocalist Nigel Clark expressed, “Hello Beautiful is more than just a song – it’s a message. After ten years away from recording together, we wanted to come back with something uplifting, something that would bring a smile and remind people why they fell in love with music in the first place.” Drummer Mathew Priest added, “Going back to Kingston to launch this single is emotional for us – it’s where the whole thing started, and 35 years later we’re still together, still playing, still making records.”
Dodgy emerged in the late 1980s and quickly became prominent during the Britpop era of the 1990s. Their 1996 hit, Good Enough, remains one of the most played songs on British radio over the last 30 years, while albums like Homegrown and Free Peace Sweet solidified their reputation as a significant force in the indie music scene. Throughout their career, the band has released five studio albums, sold over two million records, and accumulated more than 50 million streams worldwide, along with 12 UK Top 40 singles.
As Dodgy prepares to release Hello Beautiful, they look back on a legacy defined by optimism, melody, and camaraderie, while also looking forward to new horizons. Fans eager to celebrate this reunion and witness the band’s return to the stage can purchase tickets for the launch event and the upcoming tour at www.dodgyology.com.
