The festive spirit was palpable in Leicester as Kim and Daniel Hall celebrated the birth of their first child, baby Ava, early on December 25, 2023. Ava arrived unexpectedly at 6:52 am, weighing 7 pounds 1 ounce, bringing joy to the couple from Oakham.

Kim went into labor on Christmas Eve, a surprise for the family as Ava was initially due the following week. “This was all very unexpected! But having her arrive when she did will obviously make Christmas Day very special every year in the future,” said Daniel Hall, 28. He expressed eagerness to take their newborn home later that day, describing the experience as “emotional” and “really special.”

Celebrating New Beginnings

Ava was the first of eight babies born at Leicester Royal Infirmary on Christmas Day, while another nine infants were welcomed at Leicester General Hospital. The Halls were presented with a special hamper of baby toys and essentials, celebrating their status as parents of the first Christmas baby in the infirmary’s maternity ward.

The hospital’s staff expressed their delight at the festive arrivals, highlighting the joy babies bring during this celebratory season. Each family welcomed their newborn with open arms, making the day a memorable one for all involved.

The Halls look forward to starting their new life as a family, with Daniel stating, “It’s been a whirlwind, but we can’t wait to experience everything that comes with parenthood.”

As families across the region gathered for Christmas festivities, the joy of new life added a unique sparkle to the holiday atmosphere, reminding everyone of the spirit of the season.
