Family Travel Expert Reveals Jet2 Hack to Find Cheaper Flights
Family travel expert Jen Carr, known on TikTok as @thetravelmum, has shared a useful travel hack that could help families secure more affordable flights for their summer holidays. In a recent video, Carr detailed how to navigate the Jet2 website to find the best deals, particularly for last-minute trips.
In her TikTok post, Carr encouraged users to use a lesser-known calendar feature on the Jet2 site. She demonstrated the process, advising viewers to navigate to ‘edit search’ after entering their travel details. By inputting various airports, travel dates, and family size, users can access a calendar highlighting the cheapest available flights for the month.
Once a destination is selected, Carr recommends sorting the prices from low to high. She emphasized the importance of choosing whether to view prices per person or the total for the entire family, allowing for easy comparison and selection of the best option.
Popular Travel Trends and Cautions
Carr’s tips come at a time when holidaymakers are exploring various travel trends, including a controversial social media challenge dubbed the “airport theory.” This trend encourages passengers to arrive at the airport just 15 to 20 minutes before departure, defying conventional advice to arrive significantly earlier.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, several travelers have encountered problems by attempting this approach. Many have missed their flights entirely after arriving late. For instance, TikTok user @momlifewithtiff documented her experience of nearly missing her flight, expressing regret for not adhering to traditional airport arrival times. She was forced to rush through security and was among the last passengers to board.
Similarly, another TikTok user, @jenny_kurtzz, shared her disappointment after arriving at the gate only to discover the plane had already departed. These experiences highlight the risks associated with the airport theory, emphasizing that airlines typically have strict policies regarding check-in and boarding times.
Travel experts recommend arriving at least two to three hours prior to an international flight and one to two hours before a domestic flight. This allows ample time to navigate security and boarding procedures. Even with a digital boarding pass and appropriate luggage, passengers should prioritize arriving early to avoid unnecessary stress and potential missed flights.
The insights from Carr and the cautionary tales from fellow travelers serve as a reminder of the importance of thorough planning when traveling, especially for families eager to enjoy a smooth holiday experience.
