Local charities, volunteer organisations, and community groups in Wrexham have the opportunity to enhance their funding strategies through a virtual workshop hosted by local MP Andrew Ranger. Scheduled for July 31, 2023, at 10:00 AM, this live Zoom event is organised in collaboration with the People’s Postcode Lottery.

The workshop aims to equip participants with the necessary tools and knowledge to successfully apply for funding. This initiative comes at a critical time as local charities seek to navigate financial challenges and continue their contributions to the community.

Empowering Local Initiatives

The People’s Postcode Lottery has made a significant impact on community funding, raising over £1.5 billion for various good causes since its inception. Currently, players are generating upwards of £19 million each month, benefiting thousands of charities across the UK, including those in Wrexham.

In 2025, grassroots organisations will once again have the chance to apply for additional funding, which underscores the ongoing commitment to support local initiatives. Notably, over £681,000 raised by the lottery has already contributed to numerous small, local good causes in the Wrexham area.

Andrew Ranger expressed his enthusiasm for the workshop, stating, “I am delighted to host this workshop led by People’s Postcode Lottery to provide local charities with the information they need to access funding. I know there are lots of wonderful charities in Wrexham that would really benefit from funding, and I’d encourage them to come along to the workshop to find out what support might be available to them.”

Significant Community Support

The People’s Postcode Lottery is actively trying to assist charities at a time when many face the risk of losing essential funds. Nick Cook, Head of Public Affairs at the lottery, commented, “The money raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery is making a huge difference in communities across the country. We want to do the best we can to help local charities and good causes successfully apply.”

The upcoming workshop presents a valuable opportunity for local charities to learn about available funding, receive guidance on the application process, and address any queries they may have. Participants interested in attending the Zoom event on July 31 can register by emailing [email protected].

This initiative is a testament to the collaborative efforts aimed at strengthening community support in Wrexham and ensuring that local charities can continue their vital work.
