Candidates Unveiled for December By-elections in South Kesteven

Residents of South Kesteven District will head to the polls on December 11, 2023, to cast their votes in two district by-elections for the Belmont and Aveland wards, alongside a parish council election for Pointon and Sempringham. This election follows the resignations of Grantham Independent councillor Phil Gadd and Conservative councillor Richard Dixon-Warren, who stepped down at the end of October.

Councillor Dixon-Warren cited his desire to spend more time with his family and focus on community work as the reasons for his resignation. Attempts to reach Councillor Gadd for comment were unsuccessful.

Residents interested in voting must register by midnight on November 25. Those wishing to register by post have until 17:00 on November 26, while the deadline for proxy voting registration is December 3.

Confirmed Candidates for the By-elections

The following candidates have been nominated to contest the by-elections in their respective wards:

**Aveland Ward:**
– Kyle Abel (Reform UK)
– David Burling (Labour)
– Brynley Heaven (Green)
– Tony Vaughan (Conservative)

**Belmont Ward:**
– Peter Gibbons (Independent)
– Sean Hothersall (Green)
– Ritchard Litchfield (Reform UK)
– Susan Nash (Labour)
– Adam Stokes (Conservative)

In addition to the district by-elections, a single vacancy on the Pointon and Sempringham Parish Council was also scheduled for election. However, as only one nomination was received, Ian Mansell has been elected unopposed, eliminating the need for a vote.

As the election date approaches, community engagement remains crucial, and local residents are encouraged to participate in shaping their district’s representation.
