Sheffield City Council has approved a plan to construct ten new residential properties on previously unused land adjacent to Darnall railway station. This decision comes after the planning department reviewed the proposal for the site located behind 6 to 30 Pool Place, between Cresswell Road and Prince of Wales Road.

The development will feature a mix of housing options, including two-bedroom semi-detached homes, three-bedroom semi-detached dwellings, and four-bedroom detached houses. Initially, the proposal included twelve homes, but following consultations, it was revised to ten to address community concerns.

Details of the New Development

A new access road, measuring 5.5 meters in width, will be constructed from Cresswell Road, alongside a 1.8-meter footpath and a landscaped boundary to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area. Parking facilities will be available via private driveways or in small parking courts, and each home will have its own private garden space, promoting a sense of community and outdoor living.

Despite the approval, the proposal faced objections from several nearby residents. Concerns raised included the removal of trees, increased noise and dust during construction, loss of privacy, potential traffic congestion, and fears of overdevelopment in the area.

Despite these objections, Sheffield City Council has granted the necessary planning permissions, allowing the construction to move forward. The decision reflects the council’s commitment to addressing housing needs while balancing community feedback and development goals.

As the project progresses, local residents will be keenly observing the impact of the new homes on their environment and daily lives.
