Saudi FM Condemns Israel’s Actions, Calls for Two-State Solution

Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, delivered a strong condemnation of Israel’s actions in Gaza during his address at the United Nations General Assembly. He characterized Israel’s conduct in the ongoing conflict as a “direct violation” of international law and reiterated the necessity for a two-state solution.
In his speech, Al Saud highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, which has been classified as a famine by the IPC report. He stated, “The suffering of the Palestinian people and the unprecedented humanitarian crisis… runs counter to the principles of the Charter and international humanitarian law.” His comments underline the critical conditions faced by civilians in the region.
Al Saud further emphasized the severe implications of Israel’s military actions, which he described as “brutal and unchecked practices of the occupying forces.” He specifically pointed to acts of starvation, forced displacement, and systematic killings, indicating a profound disregard for Palestinian rights.
Call for International Responsibility
The foreign minister warned that the international community must take immediate action to halt what he termed “Israeli aggression.” He cautioned that failure to intervene could lead to an escalation of war crimes and acts of genocide. Al Saud declared, “If the international community fails to act, it will escalate war crimes and acts of genocide.”
He urged global leaders to recognize their responsibilities, stating that “Saudi Arabia stresses the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibility to put an end to this tragedy.” He advocated for the establishment of a sustainable peace framework through the two-state solution, asserting that it is the only viable path to ensure security for all nations in the region.
Al Saud’s statements reflect a broader concern among Arab nations regarding the ongoing conflict and its implications for regional stability. The emphasis on a two-state solution aligns with long-standing international calls for a resolution that acknowledges the rights of both Israelis and Palestinians.
As the situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, the urgency of diplomatic efforts to address the humanitarian crisis grows. The international community faces mounting pressure to respond effectively to the calls for peace and justice.
