A man has set a new world record for the longest duration of masturbation, achieving a remarkable time of nine hours and 58 minutes. This feat was accomplished by Masanobu Sato in 2009 at the Centre of Sex and Culture in San Francisco. Sato’s accomplishment has garnered attention for its unique nature, although it does not officially qualify as a record recognized by the Guinness World Records due to the organization’s guidelines regarding explicit content.

The journey toward this extraordinary record began in 1998 when an adult shop in San Francisco initiated “Masturbation Month.” This was followed by the first European “masturbate-a-thon” in 2006. Sato’s foray into record-breaking began with his initial attempt, which lasted nine hours and 33 minutes, setting the stage for his eventual triumph.

In an interview with Vice, Sato revealed the preparation that contributed to his success. He cited his “abundant imagination” as a crucial factor, along with a rigorous training regimen. “I swam twice a week and gained about five kilograms in muscle weight. That helped me a lot, too in terms of stamina,” Sato explained.

Sato also emphasized the importance of variety in his approach. He used up to ten different Tenga devices to prevent monotony and maintain stimulation. “Without the variety of sensations, my body would feel the same sensation for a long time,” he noted.

Despite the unconventional nature of his achievement, Sato remains a public figure. He operates an Instagram account titled “Masaturbation,” where he shares aspects of his life, although he currently has around 421 followers. He has also engaged in kickboxing and humorously celebrates “Foreskin Day” on April 4.

Although Sato’s record-setting performance remains unofficial, it has sparked interest in the broader conversation about sexual health and expression. The event has not been without controversy, as many view the topic through various cultural lenses.

Inquiries about whether Sato has attempted to break his own record since 2009 have been met with silence, as he has not publicly shared any updates. In light of this unique story, the Daily Star has reached out to Sato for further comment regarding his record and any subsequent attempts.

While the world of record-breaking is often filled with the extraordinary, Sato’s story serves as a reminder of the diversity of human experiences and the varied ways individuals seek to express themselves.
