Melani Sanders’ We Do Not Care Club Empowers Women Worldwide
The We Do Not Care Club, a movement led by Melani Sanders, has transformed into a global sisterhood for women navigating the challenges of perimenopause. Since its inception on May 13, 2025, Sanders has garnered a following of over 2.2 million on Instagram and 1.5 million on TikTok, connecting with women who share her humorous yet candid take on midlife struggles.
In a series of engaging videos, Sanders presents herself in a casual, relatable manner, often wearing a dressing gown and oversized reading glasses. Her signature line, “We are putting the world on notice that we simply do not care much anymore,” encapsulates the essence of the movement. With a highlighter in hand, she lists various things that the members of her community no longer concern themselves with, offering a humorous perspective on the pressures women face.
Sanders’ journey began while she was grappling with the effects of surgically induced perimenopause. Feeling overwhelmed and sleep-deprived, she recorded a video that resonated with countless others. “I just hit record,” she recalls, reflecting on her “hot mess moment.” The response was immediate and immense, prompting her to reassess her role in this newfound community.
“I honestly got scared,” Sanders admits. “I actually cut my phone off for a little while.” Yet, she quickly returned to her platform, sharing her experiences and observations in a relatable format. Each post attracted more women who appreciated her honesty and humour, leading to a rapid expansion of the We Do Not Care Club.
Sanders describes the emotional toll of her sudden fame, particularly feelings of impostor syndrome. “I cried a lot during this time,” she confides, questioning her capacity to lead while dealing with the unpredictability of perimenopause. However, as women began forming their own “chapters” of the club, she found strength in the solidarity of shared experiences.
The movement has attracted attention beyond social media, including appearances on The Drew Barrymore Show alongside celebrities like Halle Berry and Ashley Judd. Sanders has also received heartfelt messages from women expressing gratitude for the comfort her content has provided during difficult times.
Looking ahead, Sanders will release her book, The Official We Do Not Care Club Handbook, on January 13, 2025. This publication promises to encapsulate the spirit of the club, blending humour with heartfelt stories and insights from women navigating similar life stages.
Perimenopause can often feel isolating, with many women facing symptoms that are frequently minimised or misunderstood. Sanders’ initiative has created a platform where women can openly discuss their challenges, share their frustrations, and laugh together. One particularly touching moment for Sanders was when a follower approached her in a grocery store, moved to tears as she expressed how the videos had provided her with the strength to cope with her own struggles.
In her own words, Sanders emphasizes the importance of caring about what truly matters, stating, “I do care, hugely—not about laundry or chin hair, but about the stuff that really matters.” As the We Do Not Care Club continues to grow, it stands as a testament to the power of community, resilience, and shared humour among women facing the realities of midlife.
