Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and president of the Montenegrin Helsinki Committee, Miodrag Vlahovic, has publicly condemned the statements made by Aleksa Becic regarding police operations in Zeta. Vlahovic characterized Becic’s remarks as cowardly and lacking accountability in a critical response issued on December 30, 2025.

In his statement, Vlahovic described Becic’s justification as a reflection of the incompetence and lack of principles exhibited by the current authorities in Montenegro. He stated, “What a coward. The explanation he provided is a definition of the government’s ignorance and incorrectness. Courage and determination are absent.” Vlahovic’s critique highlights a growing frustration over the handling of security issues within the country.

The former minister argued that in any normal country, such remarks would warrant the resignation of anyone in charge of security. He suggested that the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) should consider reviving a previously set aside initiative for an interpellation against Becic. Vlahovic noted, “This would not harm the European agenda, we hope.”

Vlahovic’s comments underscore a significant concern about governance and public safety in Montenegro, as citizens and political figures alike demand greater accountability from their leaders. His statements continue to resonate in the context of ongoing discussions about the effectiveness of law enforcement in addressing public safety issues.
