Queen Camilla Shares Heartwarming Moment with Rescue Dog Moley

An endearing photograph of Queen Camilla with her rescue dog, Moley, has been released following her recent visit to Battersea Dogs’ and Cats’ Home on July 14, 2025. The image, which captures the Queen smiling in her garden at her residence, Ray Mill House in Wiltshire, showcases her affection for the Jack Russell-cross she adopted earlier this year. Moley, a female dog born on Boxing Day, was just eight weeks old when she found her forever home with the Queen.

Queen Camilla, 77, has a long-standing love for animals, having previously adopted two dogs, Beth and Bluebell, from Battersea. Tragically, Beth passed away last November after being diagnosed with an untreatable tumour. Since then, Moley has become a cherished companion for Camilla, who enjoys sharing her passion for animal welfare.

The newly released photo coincides with the Queen’s visit to Battersea, where she unveiled a new dog garden designed to provide a calming environment for canines. During her tour of the shelter, she was surrounded by adorable puppies, clearly in her element as she interacted with the animals.

In a vibrant tropical print dress, Camilla looked effortlessly stylish during her visit. Her platinum blonde hair and glamorous makeup complemented the heartwarming atmosphere as she engaged with staff and fellow visitors. She also sported a Yorkshire Terrier badge in celebration of her commitment to animal welfare.

The dog garden, which was initially conceptualised for this year’s Chelsea Flower Show, was designed in collaboration with the RHS and BBC Radio 2. The space features shaded areas and sensory elements aimed at helping dogs de-stress and enjoy a natural setting away from their kennels.

As Camilla mingled with the shelter’s staff, she encountered various dogs eager for attention. A notable moment included a little white terrier that jumped up to greet her, while another black dog playfully licked her handbag. The joy and warmth of the occasion were palpable, reinforcing her dedication to animal rescue.

During her visit, the Queen also spoke with presenter Amanda Holden and model David Gandy, who joined her in celebrating the opening of the new garden. Camilla’s enthusiasm for the event was evident, highlighted by her unveiling of a blue plaque commemorating the garden’s opening.
