Princess Beatrice Celebrates Milestone Birthday with Family Joy
Princess Beatrice is poised to celebrate her 37th birthday on Friday, marking a particularly significant occasion this year. Earlier in 2023, Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, welcomed their second child, a daughter named Athena Elizabeth Rose. Born prematurely on January 22, Athena’s arrival brought both joy and challenges to the royal family.
Edoardo shared the first image of their “tiny and absolutely perfect” daughter on social media. This milestone birthday is Beatrice’s first as a mother of two, as she also has a daughter, Sienna, born in September 2021. Edoardo is also a father to a nine-year-old son, Wolfie, from his previous relationship with Dara Huang.
Family Moments
Just days before Beatrice’s birthday, baby Athena made her public debut. The infant was seen in a baby carrier worn by her father during the Lionesses’ victory parade following their triumph at the Euro 2025 tournament. Meanwhile, Sienna and Wolfie participated in the celebrations, waving England flags among the crowds outside Buckingham Palace.
In an effort to protect their children’s privacy, Beatrice and Edoardo have chosen not to share images of their daughters’ faces. This commitment to privacy reflects a broader trend among public figures to shield their families from the spotlight.
Motherhood Reflections
In a heartfelt essay for British Vogue, Beatrice opened up about the emotional journey of motherhood, particularly following Athena’s early birth. She described the experience as fraught with “months of sheer worry,” stating that it took time for the relief to settle in after her daughter’s arrival.
Beatrice expressed the unique challenges of having a baby born ahead of schedule: “Nothing quite prepares you for the moment when you realise your baby is going to arrive early. There’s so little control.” She added that the uncertainty surrounding premature births can evoke an overwhelming fear of the unknown.
Sisterly Bonds
Beatrice’s journey into motherhood coincides closely with that of her sister, Princess Eugenie, who welcomed her son, August Brooksbank, just seven months prior to Sienna’s birth. This shared experience has fostered a strong bond between the two sisters. Eugenie, who maintains a public Instagram account, often shares personal moments from their childhood and family events.
In a previous interview with HELLO!, Eugenie spoke about their connection, noting that they frequently exchange parenting tips. She referred to their relationship as part of a “mothering club,” highlighting the joy of navigating similar experiences together. “And Bea’s my big sister; I talk to her about everything,” she remarked.
As Princess Beatrice prepares to celebrate her birthday, the joy of family and the profound experiences of motherhood continue to shape her life. This year, her milestone birthday serves as a reminder of the precious moments that come with raising children and the importance of family connections.
