Ekiti State Enhances Security Measures Amid Rising Concerns
As concerns about security escalate in Nigeria, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has reaffirmed the safety and peace of the region. Following an emergency meeting with key security agency heads in Ikogosi-Ekiti, he announced significant enhancements to intelligence gathering and border surveillance to prevent criminal activity.
Strengthening Security Framework
Governor Oyebanji emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that criminals do not find refuge within Ekiti. He stated, “We will not relent in progressively scaling up our security architecture.” This proactive approach aims to fortify communities and maintain a secure environment for residents.
The governor cut short his leave to address the pressing security situation, highlighting the need for immediate action due to developments in neighboring states. He expressed gratitude to the security agencies for their professionalism and concerted efforts in safeguarding the state.
“I am comfortable and at peace with what they have told us,” Oyebanji remarked, referring to the updates from the security chiefs. He noted that the meeting was part of ongoing efforts to enhance inter-agency collaboration and coordination. The governor assured residents that they have the competence and resources necessary to protect the state.
Community Involvement Essential
In his address, Governor Oyebanji acknowledged the crucial role of community participation in security operations. He urged residents to provide credible intelligence, stating, “If you see something, say something.” This call to action underscores the importance of local involvement in maintaining security.
Additionally, he commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to national security, reiterating that the state’s safety remains a top priority. As part of the ongoing efforts, the governor affirmed that security measures will continue to be strengthened to adapt to any potential threats.
Governor Oyebanji’s leadership reflects a dedicated response to the current security landscape, with a focus on collaboration and community engagement. By enhancing surveillance and intelligence gathering, Ekiti State aims to remain a safe haven for its residents.
As the situation develops, the government remains vigilant and proactive, ensuring that Ekiti State continues to be a peaceful place for all its inhabitants.
