Mum Leaves Butlin’s After One Night Due to Unhygienic Room

A mother has expressed her deep disappointment with the accommodation at the Butlin’s holiday park in Skegness, leading her to check out after just one night. Jasmine, who shared her experience on TikTok, highlighted multiple cleanliness issues in her room, including a dead bug and damp beds.
Jasmine’s TikTok video showcased the “grimy” conditions she encountered, revealing her frustration with the state of the accommodation. She described the room as being in need of “a massive deep clean” and noted that the smell was “absolutely wild.” With 19,000 followers on the platform, Jasmine aimed to raise awareness about her stay, stating, “Even walking up to the room I felt grimy.”
During the video tour, she pointed out various problems, including dirt in the shower and overflowing bins. Jasmine initially booked a “comfort room,” which did not meet her expectations for cleanliness. “I was meant to book the apartment but I didn’t realise,” she explained. After spending one uncomfortable night, she noted, “the beds were so damp—my daughter even woke up asking why the bed was so wet.”
The family’s experience took a concerning turn when Jasmine reported that her daughter “got poo on her hand walking out,” prompting her decision to leave the holiday park. Despite her dissatisfaction, she praised the activities available for children, stating, “The stuff kids can do here is amazing.”
In response to the incident, a spokesperson for Butlin’s acknowledged the issues raised by Jasmine and expressed regret. “We’re sorry and disappointed to see the cleanliness issues the guest experienced with their accommodation,” the spokesperson said. They confirmed that a full reclean of the room was carried out and a gesture of goodwill was offered to Jasmine, which she accepted.
Jasmine’s experience resonated with others, as several commenters on her TikTok post shared similarly negative encounters at the Skegness location. One user remarked, “This looks so much cleaner than our room,” while another recounted their own disappointing stay, mentioning broken windows and unclean bedding.
Conversely, some visitors defended the holiday park, asserting that they had consistently positive experiences during their stays. One such guest remarked, “Which Butlin’s is this?? We’ve always been to the Skegness one and never had a room like this. That’s grim.”
As the discussions surrounding cleanliness at Butlin’s continue, the incident underscores the importance of maintaining high standards in hospitality, particularly in family-oriented environments.
