Woman Flies to Italy for TikTok Love, Plans Future Together

A woman from Manchester has transformed her life after flying to Italy for a first date with a girl she met on TikTok. Jessica Smith, 29, connected with India, 24, through a shared interest in Italian Big Brother, leading to an intense week of FaceTiming and ultimately, a spontaneous trip to Milan.
Jessica and India booked their flights just a week after they began chatting online. Their conversation swiftly evolved from light-hearted banter to serious plans, with Jessica stating, “It sounds a bit mental, but we were FaceTiming a lot and thought, why not do it? Better to do it sooner than wait.”
A Memorable First Meeting
The anticipation culminated on May 15, 2023, when Jessica landed in Milan. “Meeting for the first time was honestly incredible,” she recalled. “It felt like we already knew each other, and it was so natural.” Despite her nerves upon arrival, the connection between the two was immediate. Jessica described seeing India’s Instagram story as she landed, noting, “She looked insane, which made me even more nervous.”
Their first date was a whirlwind of activity, filled with sushi dinners, cocktails, and visits to vintage markets and museums. The pair even enjoyed a rave and took a scenic two-hour road trip to a picturesque lake for a picnic. Jessica’s mother was understandably concerned about her daughter staying at a stranger’s house abroad, prompting Jessica to reassure her with a FaceTime call upon her arrival in Italy.
Building a Future Together
Jessica expressed that the experiences during the four-day trip solidified their bond. “By the end of the trip, we knew it was something special,” she said. Two months later, India visited Manchester, where Jessica asked her to be her girlfriend. The couple now travels back and forth between the UK and Italy, creating scrapbooks of their adventures and planning future trips.
Reflecting on their time together, Jessica highlighted a memorable day spent at the lake. “We took a picnic, wine, and her dog, made canvases for each other, and played a card game to get to know each other more.” She noted that this deepened their connection, stating, “I think the experience has definitely changed the way I feel about taking risks.”
Jessica plans to further her education by enrolling in a teaching abroad course, which will allow her to work anywhere and spend more time with India. “Future plans aren’t set yet, but I’m going to start my TEFL course in the next few months,” she shared.
As their relationship grows, Jessica and India look forward to more shared experiences. With plans to reunite in less than three weeks, Jessica remarked, “The goodbyes are heartbreaking, but we know we’ll have another trip soon.”
