Popular Twitch streamer Imane “Pokimane” Anys has publicly addressed critics who have been questioning her family plans as she approaches her 30th birthday. The 29-year-old content creator, known for her engaging online presence, has amassed over 9 million followers on Twitch throughout her ten-year career. In a recent stream, she took aim at those who have been making comments about her age and when she might start having children.

Defending Personal Choices

During her stream in November 2025, Anys confronted viewers who have been fixated on her age, particularly as it relates to family planning. Some individuals in her chat have suggested that she is “pushing 35” and demanded to know when she intends to have children. Anys responded, stating, “You know, people who come in and go, ‘Why don’t you have kids yet?’ Stuff like that? Someone said I’m ‘pushing 35.’ That’s six years away!”

In a candid moment, she expressed her thoughts on the pressure to conform to societal expectations regarding motherhood. “I find it really odd, because I don’t think there’s an issue with not even wanting kids. But I actually want kids,” she clarified. By addressing these comments head-on, Anys aims to challenge the stigma surrounding women and their choices regarding parenthood.

Criticism in the Streaming Community

In her remarks, Anys humorously referred to those making such comments as “uterus-watching,” drawing a parallel to the term “pocket-watching,” which describes individuals who closely monitor others’ financial status. “Why do you care if there’s a baby in my uterus? Shouldn’t you go get a partner and worry about their uterus?” she quipped, highlighting the absurdity of such intrusive questions.

Anys is not alone in facing scrutiny within the gaming and streaming community. Fellow content creator Valkyrae faced similar remarks in 2024 when she was told she was “expired” after turning 32. Valkyrae responded with humor, acknowledging her age while asserting her right to continue engaging in her passions. “I am aging, and I am, indeed, a woman,” she said. “I am a woman with ovaries, and I am aging. And yes, for the rest of my life, I’m going to be told I am ‘too old’ to play video games and ‘too old’ to dress up for Halloween.”

As Anys and Valkyrae navigate these challenges, they continue to advocate for a more supportive environment in the streaming community, where personal choices are respected and celebrated rather than critiqued. Their experiences shed light on the broader societal pressures faced by women, particularly in male-dominated spaces such as gaming.
