Bungie Launches Destiny 2’s Edge of Fate Expansion and New Raid

The highly anticipated expansion for Destiny 2, titled Edge of Fate, is set to launch on July 15, 2023, at 6 PM BST for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC users via Steam. Developer Bungie has announced that prior to this release, the game will undergo extensive server maintenance starting at 1:45 PM BST, which will continue until the expansion becomes available.
Players should prepare for potential issues immediately following the launch, as server problems are common during such events. Even those who do not purchase the Edge of Fate expansion will need to download the mandatory update, version 9.0.0.1, to access the game once it is back online. Fortunately, players can pre-load this update before maintenance ends, allowing for immediate entry into the game once the servers are operational again.
Pre-load and Update Information
Currently, some PlayStation and Xbox users can pre-load the update, which Bungie has initiated to help alleviate server strain. If you are unable to pre-load the update at this time, you can do so starting at 2 PM BST on July 15 for PlayStation users. Xbox players will have the option to pre-load shortly after Destiny 2 goes offline for maintenance. Steam and Epic Games Store users will follow the same timeline, with pre-loads available around 2 PM BST.
The Edge of Fate expansion is available for pre-order at a price of £34.99. This new content introduces players to a new planet called Kepler, which takes them beyond the Solar System for the first time. Bungie describes this new destination as “hidden deep within the Reef,” featuring a lost human settlement and forgotten Fallen houses, all impacted by a mysterious Anomaly that has transformed the environment into a threatening landscape.
New Features and Upcoming Raid
In addition to the new location, the expansion will introduce new destination abilities powered by a faction known as The Nine. Players will encounter two new enemy types: Fallen Corsairs and Kobold Vex Drones.
The expansion’s most significant highlight is the release of a new raid titled The Desert Perpetual, scheduled to debut on July 19, 2023, at 6 PM BST. To participate in this raid, players must complete the Edge of Fate campaign first. A competitive element is also in place, as players aim to become the World’s First team to finish the raid, with the winning group receiving a championship belt reminiscent of professional wrestling accolades.
With the launch of the Edge of Fate expansion, Bungie aims to enhance the gameplay experience for Destiny 2 enthusiasts, offering new challenges and adventures that expand the beloved universe even further.
