Authorities Arrest Man Linked to Crime Clan After Injury Incident

Ranjen Radosav Stanišić, a 40-year-old man allegedly associated with the Kavački crime clan, sustained a gunshot wound to his left lower leg and later sought medical attention at the Emergency Centre in Podgorica shortly after midnight. According to the Montenegrin police, Stanišić did not provide detailed information regarding the circumstances of his injury and declined to cooperate with the investigation.

In response to the incident, authorities implemented a citywide blockade, conducting checks on multiple individuals. These efforts led to the detention of several people for questioning regarding the events surrounding Stanišić’s injury.

During these operations, police stopped an Audi vehicle linked to a 29-year-old Bosnian citizen, identified as L.B., who was reportedly close to Stanišić. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered a “Valter” pistol along with 15 rounds of ammunition, which lacked a factory serial number. The weapon was seized, and L.B. was arrested on suspicion of illegal possession and carrying of firearms and explosives, following a directive from the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica.

Authorities are actively pursuing a series of measures to determine the precise location of the incident, along with gathering any other pertinent information related to the case.

This is not Stanišić’s first encounter with law enforcement. In 2022, he was arrested on charges of stalking his ex-wife while she was with their minor child, during which he allegedly threatened her and damaged her vehicle. Furthermore, he has been implicated in the arson of vehicles belonging to the media outlet “Vijesti” in 2020. Earlier that same year, he was also suspected of involvement in the shooting of local resident Igor Krstović in Zeta.

Investigators have indicated they possess information suggesting Stanišić was part of a group responsible for the attack on Krstović, highlighting his ongoing connections to criminal activities within the region. The police continue to seek further evidence to clarify the circumstances surrounding both his past offenses and the recent shooting incident.
