Investigators are now employing innovative methods, including data from her heart pacemaker, in hopes of uncovering vital clues about her whereabouts in Arizona.

The search began after Nancy Guthrie was dropped off at her home on the evening of January 31 and subsequently failed to contact family members. Once the pacemaker and phone were out of range for over 24 hours, the device effectively became invisible to digital tracking systems. Despite this, the pacemaker continued to function normally. “It doesn’t need that connection to function,” Dr. Epstein noted, assuring that losing the digital link does not indicate a failure of the device or the patient’s heart.
