Beloved Actor Tom Troupe Passes Away at 97, Leaving Legacy

Tom Troupe, the versatile actor known for his roles in television and film, has died at the age of 97. According to a family spokesperson, Troupe passed away from natural causes over the weekend in Beverly Hills, just five days after celebrating his birthday.
Born in Missouri, Troupe moved to New York in the late 1940s and served in the Korean War before embarking on an extensive acting career. He made his Broadway debut in the original production of The Diary of Anne Frank in 1957, taking on the role of Peter van Daan. His talents quickly garnered attention, leading him to a variety of roles in both film and television.
From Television to Film Stardom
Troupe is perhaps best remembered for his portrayal of David Day in the original Mission: Impossible series, which first aired in 1967. He also made notable appearances in other television shows, including Frasier, E.R., and Murder, She Wrote. In the same year as Mission: Impossible, he took on the role of Lt. Harold in Star Trek, further solidifying his presence in the entertainment industry.
Throughout his career, Troupe appeared in a variety of productions, both on screen and stage. His film credits include My Own Private Idaho (1991), and he showcased his theatrical skills in plays such as The Lion in Winter and The Gin Game. His final credited role was in the 2019 short film Time Out, as well as appearances in the television series Break A Hip and Caravaggio And My Mother The Pope.
A Lasting Legacy and Family Tribute
Troupe’s personal life was marked by his marriage to actress Carole Cook, who passed away in 2023 at the age of 98. Cook was celebrated for her roles in The Lucy Show, American Gigolo, and Sixteen Candles. Troupe is survived by his son Christopher, a daughter-in-law, a granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Troupe’s family has requested that donations be made to the Entertainment Community Fund or the Pasadena Humane Society, honoring his commitment to the arts and animal welfare. Troupe’s contributions to the entertainment world will be remembered fondly by fans and colleagues alike, reflecting a career that spanned decades and touched many lives.
