Ilminster Party on the Park Seeks Volunteers and Sponsors for 2024 Event

The annual Ilminster Party on the Park is set to take place on August 24, 2024, aiming to raise thousands of pounds for charity. Organisers are actively seeking volunteers and sponsors to enhance this beloved community event, which has grown significantly since its inception for the Queen’s Jubilee in 2012.
This year’s festivities will occur on the Recreation Ground in Ilminster, featuring a variety of attractions. Visitors can look forward to a classic car show, a family dog show, live music, and performances from local dancers. Additionally, there will be numerous charity stalls, food vendors, a barbecue, cream teas, cakes, and a bar. Activities for children, including bouncy castles, as well as raffles and tombolas, will ensure a fun-filled day for families.
The event has proven to be a major success in previous years, raising over £110,000 for both local and national charities. Emma Jayne, one of the event’s organisers, highlighted the importance of community involvement. “There is still a chance to get involved. Please email us if you can offer support or wish to run a fundraising charity stall. We aim to have a great variety of stalls for numerous charity groups, ensuring there is something for everyone,” she stated.
Organisers are particularly in need of sponsors to support various aspects of the event. “We rely on the generosity of the local community and businesses each year to put the event on,” Jayne added. The team is currently seeking a sponsor for the Family Dog Show, which they hope will be the best yet.
Matt Sainsbury, who co-organises the event, expressed excitement about the entertainment lineup for this year. “We have a great lineup of entertainment again this year, with something for everyone. The addition of the dog show run by the local dog business Canine Kate should bring something extra to the day, with categories that should suit most dogs,” he said.
The organisers are also inviting classic car enthusiasts to participate in the show. “Anyone who wants to bring a classic car to take part should also get in touch with the organisers,” Sainsbury noted.
Despite the careful planning, the organisers remain hopeful for good weather. “We can do everything we possibly can to make the day run smoothly; it’s the weather that always concerns us. But as we do every year, everything is crossed for a fine day,” he concluded.
For those interested in volunteering, sponsoring, or participating, further details can be found on the event’s Facebook and Instagram pages. The Ilminster Party on the Park promises to be an engaging day out, bringing the community together for a good cause while providing entertainment and fun for all ages.
