Mark Labbett’s Awkward Date on Celebs Go Dating Shocks Fans

Fans of Celebs Go Dating were left astonished as Mark Labbett, widely recognized as “The Beast” from the quiz show The Chase, experienced a series of mishaps during his date. Paired with fellow quiz enthusiast Natalie, the evening took an awkward turn, culminating in a moment that captured the attention of viewers across the globe.
Throughout the dinner, Labbett, who stands at an impressive 6 feet 6 inches, struggled to stay awake. Observers noted that he yawned repeatedly and even appeared to doze off at one point. In a particularly cringe-worthy moment, he mistakenly attempted to drink from a tea light holder, exclaiming, “Oh, that’s not a drink,” which sent Natalie into a fit of giggles, albeit awkwardly.
Expressing his embarrassment, Labbett remarked, “That was so embarrassing. I’m trying my best for Natalie, but she’s not getting the best out of me. Sorry love.” His admission of fatigue prompted him to declare that he needed to go to bed, leaving viewers to question his preparedness for the date.
Labbett, who was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2017, has previously shared that his health condition poses challenges during long filming sessions. In a past interview, he recounted an incident where he had to cut a date short due to a hypoglycemia episode, which occurs when blood sugar levels drop too low. He stated, “The hardest part of the process was the long filming, and unfortunately for me, my glucose levels went off the scale.”
While the evening’s events were uncomfortable for Labbett, social media erupted with reactions. One viewer stated, “Never been as uncomfortable watching a date on TV as I am watching The Beast,” while another questioned, “How that woman hasn’t got up and walked from the date with Mark, I don’t know.” Many expressed a mix of laughter and second-hand embarrassment as Labbett’s date progressed.
Despite the awkwardness of his date with Natalie, Labbett has found a romantic connection on the show. Reports indicate that he has started dating Deanne Perkins, a 57-year-old contestant with whom he “instantly connected.”
Mark Labbett’s dating journey follows his recent breakup with TV presenter Hayley Palmer, 44. After meeting Palmer following his separation from his ex-wife, Katie, with whom he shares a seven-year-old son, Labbett admitted to struggling with the nuances of relationships. He stated, “I’ll admit, I’m not the most clued-up person when it comes to relationships.”
Despite the mishaps showcased on his date, Labbett’s candidness about his experiences, including the impact of his health condition, has resonated with fans. As he continues to navigate the dating landscape, many are curious to see how his journey unfolds on Celebs Go Dating.
