Amy Lee, Courtney LaPlante, and Poppy Unite for New Metal Anthem
The highly anticipated collaboration between metal icons Amy Lee of Evanescence, Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox, and Poppy has finally arrived. Their new single, titled “End Of You,” was officially released on September 4, 2023, accompanied by a dramatic music video. The collaboration generated excitement across social media platforms, leading up to its release after a series of teasers.
The buzz began on August 26, when all three artists shared a photo together on their social media accounts. This post ignited enthusiasm among their fans, who eagerly awaited further announcements. Just two days later, on August 28, the trio each posted different snippets of the music video, confirming the title “End Of You” and hinting at the collaboration’s imminent arrival. The record label, Sumerian Records, reinforced the excitement by sharing the video snippets, marking its promotional role in the project.
The connection between Poppy and Spiritbox isn’t new; they have collaborated before, notably when Poppy performed “Soft Spine” with Spiritbox at the Louder Than Life festival in September 2022. Additionally, a humorous incident at the Grammy Awards in February—where LaPlante was mistakenly identified as Poppy during a red carpet interview—only added to the ongoing narrative between these artists, as the footage quickly went viral.
In conjunction with the single’s release, Evanescence has scheduled several North American concerts for September. These performances will see the band supporting My Chemical Romance and include a stop at the Louder Than Life festival, with Poppy also appearing as a supporting act. This tour follows Poppy’s release of her latest album “Negative Spaces” in 2022 and Spiritbox’s second album, “Tsunami Sea,” which was launched in March 2023.
As for Evanescence, they are currently working on a new album, tentatively set for 2026, and have already released singles “Afterlife” and “Fight Like A Girl” this year. Whether “End Of You” will feature on this upcoming album remains uncertain.
The collaboration between these three artists promises to be a significant event in the metal genre, showcasing their unique talents and styles. The video for “End Of You” is available for viewing online, and fans are eager to see how this partnership evolves in the future.
