Legendary Corsica Studios to Close for Renovation by March 2026
The iconic Corsica Studios in London will close its doors in March 2026, marking the end of an era for the city’s vibrant nightlife scene. Located in Elephant and Castle, the venue has been a staple of London’s underground music culture since its founding in 2002. With a capacity of 500, Corsica has hosted a diverse roster of renowned artists, including Helena Hauff, Nina Kraviz, Bicep, Daniel Avery, Four Tet, and even Björk.
In an official statement shared with Time Out, the club confirmed that the closure is part of a planned refurbishment. The intent is to reopen at a later date with an upgraded, sound-proofed space. The new venue aims to establish a “solid, long-term lease” and implement measures to mitigate potential noise complaints from nearby developments.
Corsica Studios addressed speculation regarding its closure, clarifying that it is not a reaction to noise complaints from local residents or pressure from developers. The statement highlighted the club’s commitment to being a responsible venue operator, noting that Southwark Council supports their operations and that they are engaged in constructive discussions with both the council and developers.
The club acknowledged the challenges of running a late-night venue in a rapidly evolving area. “It’s no secret that operating a late-night venue such as ours has become increasingly difficult,” the statement read. Over recent years, Corsica has collaborated with various stakeholders, including the Greater London Authority and the Music Venue Trust, to secure a sustainable future for the establishment.
Recognizing that some patrons may be saddened by the closure, the venue emphasized that this decision is essential for its evolution. “Without evolving, the venue faces an almost impossible task,” the statement continued. “We are now in a position where we can future-proof the premises to allow a music and arts-focused cultural space to coexist with our neighbours.”
As a farewell to its loyal community, Corsica Studios plans to host a series of events from December 31, 2025, to March 29, 2026, celebrating its 25 years of cultural contributions. The team behind Corsica Studios also operates The Carpet Shop in Peckham, another well-regarded venue in London’s electronic music scene.
