The episode featured a special preview of the program Scam Interceptors, where Holden took on the fraudster who was attempting to deceive her fans into investing in fake schemes.

In the segment, Holden, aged 54, discovered that her identity was being misused by scammers. They were falsely representing her to entice individuals into registering for non-existent investment opportunities, risking significant financial loss. The scammers had even created a deepfake video of Holden, which included an American accent, prompting her to exclaim, “That is so bad!” She expressed disbelief that anyone could be misled by such an obvious imitation, asking, “How would people fall for that?”

Confrontation with the Scammer

The producers of Scam Interceptors had previously contacted multiple fraudsters posing as Holden. After identifying one such impersonator, the team set up a revealing phone call. The impersonator, referred to as “scamanda,” was caught off guard when the genuine Amanda joined the conversation, pretending to be a bank employee. During the call, the scammer requested an immediate payment of £3,000 and a total of £10,000.

In a dramatic twist, Holden disclosed her identity to the scammer, stating, “Can I let you know my name, sir, so you know who you’re dealing with? My name is Amanda Holden, I live in the UK, I know everything about you…” The call ended abruptly after this revelation, with Holden visibly shocked, exclaiming, “Oh my God!”

Amanda’s Warning to Scammers

The confrontation did not end there. Following the termination of the call, the scammer accused the team of using artificial intelligence to impersonate Holden. In a bold move, she recorded a voice note for the fraudster, declaring, “This is Amanda Holden. You’ve been using my name as part of a whole scamming investment fund. I know where you live, I know everything about you, we work for a programme called Scam Interceptors on BBC. Google it!”

This exchange highlights the rising concern around identity theft and scams that exploit public figures to manipulate unsuspecting individuals. By confronting the scammer directly, Holden not only exposed the fraudulent activity but also aimed to raise awareness among her fans and the general public.
