The film Dražen, directed by Danilo Šerbedžija and Ljubo Zdjelarević, was awarded the Grand Prize at the Budva Sports and Arts Film Festival (BSAFF), held in Budva, Montenegro. This documentary offers a poignant portrayal of the life and legacy of legendary Croatian basketball player Dražen Petrović.
Among the other notable winners at this year’s festival, the award for Best Short Film went to “Indijski izlaz,” directed by Dutch filmmaker Basa de Kloet. The Best Medium-Length Film award was claimed by “Bulevar,” directed by Muhamed Bikić, while the jury recognized “Moca,” directed by Aleksandar Paunović, for Best Feature Documentary. The award for Best Fiction Film was presented to “Prva klasa pun gasa,” helmed by Vladimir Popović, and the film “Leptiri bez krila,” directed by Anel Džanković, was acknowledged for possessing the greatest educational potential.
The Best Director accolade was awarded to Marko Pirc for his work on “Zmaj iz Kozesa.” The festival, founded by Miloš Todorović, featured a total of 25 competitive films focused on sports themes.
In an exciting development, Todorović announced that the awarded films will be showcased at the “Sport Movies & TV 2025 – 43rd Milano International Ficts Fest,” scheduled to take place from October 7 to October 11, 2025, in Milan. This opportunity underscores the festival’s commitment to promoting sports cinema on a global scale and highlights the significance of the films awarded this year.
The Budva Sports and Arts Film Festival continues to serve as a vital platform for filmmakers to share their unique narratives surrounding sports, inspiring audiences worldwide.
