Fans of the animated series South Park experienced a nostalgic moment when villainous character Jeff Bezos made a return in the episode titled Sickofancy, which aired on September 3, 2023. The episode is part of the show’s 27th season and features a gathering of prominent tech industry leaders, including Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook and Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, as they present gifts and flattery to former President Donald Trump in a lavish, gold-decorated room at the White House.

Bezos, depicted with his characteristic large head and rosy cheeks, waits in line to compliment Trump, echoing his earlier appearance in Season 22. This marks a return for Bezos, who first entered the South Park universe in the 2018 episodes Unfulfilled and Bike Parade. In his previous storyline, Bezos was portrayed as a telepathic supervillain, drawing inspiration from the Talosian aliens from the original Star Trek pilot episode.

During his initial storyline, Bezos was criticized for Amazon’s working conditions and struck a deal with Mayor McDaniels to establish an Amazon fulfilment center in South Park. His telepathic abilities allowed him to eavesdrop on the townspeople via their Amazon Echo devices. In a memorable moment, he commanded Alexa to “kill Kenny,” a recurring gag within the series.

As viewers watched the episode unfold, many quickly recognized the familiar character of Bezos, with one Reddit user remarking, “U know damn well that’s Jeff Bezos.” Another fan encouraged others to look up a picture of the billionaire, stating, “It’s pretty much exactly what he looks like.” The excitement surrounding Bezos’s return was palpable, with fans exclaiming, “BEZOS IS BACK BABY.”

In addition to the Bezos cameo, the episode was rich with pop culture references, including a tribute to Star Wars. The character Towelie also made an appearance, navigating a military-occupied Washington, D.C., in a quest to meet Trump. The episode continued its tradition of satire by portraying Trump in a less-than-flattering light, depicting him with minuscule genitals and entangled in a toxic relationship with Satan.

Following the broadcast, Comedy Central announced that future episodes of South Park will be aired bi-weekly rather than weekly, heightening anticipation among fans. Episode 4 is set to air on September 3, 2023, with streaming available the next day on Paramount+.

As the series continues to tackle contemporary issues and public figures with its signature humor, fans remain eager to see what surprises lie ahead in this season of South Park.
