Tara Reid has expressed her disappointment following the decision by the Rosemont Police Department in Chicago to close their investigation into her claims of being drugged at a bar last November. In a statement provided to Page Six, a representative for the actress described the outcome as “truly heartbreaking,” highlighting the emotional toll the incident has taken on her mental health.

Reid, known for her role in the “American Pie” franchise, has been vocal about the bullying she has faced since the incident. She stated, “All of the bullying I have been subjected to since and everyone twisting reality without the facts they weren’t even there to witness is truly affecting my mental health, and I need it to stop.” She also clarified that the narrative surrounding her condition at the bar has been distorted. Reid mentioned reviewing CCTV footage that showed she had only taken a single sip of her wine over a period of more than 30 minutes, contrary to claims that she consumed large quantities of alcohol.

The Rosemont Police Department declared the investigation closed on December 11, 2023, stating that they found no evidence to substantiate Reid’s allegations. A spokesperson for the department noted that after interviewing all parties involved, they found “nothing outstanding” in the statements provided. They emphasized that the available evidence did not indicate any incident of drugging, despite Reid’s claims.

In response to the police’s closure of the case, a witness has come forward with her account of the events at the bar. Kathy Lain, a flight attendant and nurse who was at the Doubletree hotel during a layover, described a scene in which Reid appeared disoriented. “The man was leaning into the woman. The woman had difficulty holding her head up and seemed almost out of it,” Lain reported. She recounted that Reid allegedly stated to a man, “You want to f*** me,” to which he responded with “maybe.” Lain noted that Reid later expressed concern and asked the bartender to call security.

Despite these claims, a police report released on December 3, 2023, indicated that no misconduct could be verified. According to the report, while video surveillance captured Reid at the hotel bar, there was no evidence of anyone tampering with her drink. The police confirmed that the bartender had standard practice of covering drinks when patrons left the bar.

Reid’s experience has ignited discussions about how such incidents are treated and the implications for mental health. The actress’s situation underscores the challenges faced by individuals who come forward with claims of assault, particularly when public perception and media narratives can significantly influence their experiences.

As the situation develops, Reid continues to advocate for her truth, highlighting the need for understanding and support for those who have faced similar circumstances.
