TikTok Baker Creates Stunning Life-Sized Rumi Cake from K-Pop Hit

A TikTok baker has captured the attention of millions after crafting a life-sized cake replica of Rumi, the lead character from the animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters. The creation showcases the intersection of culinary art and pop culture, leaving viewers both amazed and eager to taste the elaborate dessert.
Viral Sensation from K-Pop Demon Hunters
Released on Netflix, K-Pop Demon Hunters has quickly become a global phenomenon. The film’s vibrant animation, engaging music, and heartfelt themes contributed to its record-breaking success, making it Netflix’s most-watched film ever. Following its impressive run, two sequels have already been announced, further solidifying its popularity.
To celebrate this cultural moment, baker Lara Cakes, who boasts over 4 million followers on TikTok, took on the ambitious task of recreating Rumi entirely out of cake. Known for her impressive edible sculptures, Lara has previously crafted designs such as Elsa from Disney’s Frozen and a life-sized figure of Wolverine.
Crafting Rumi in Under a Week
Lara set a personal challenge to complete the Rumi cake in less than a week. She began by constructing Rumi’s body using vanilla sponge cake and incorporated struts for stability. The character’s signature patterns were achieved through layers of purple and pink cake, while her skin was fashioned from white chocolate modeling chocolate. For Rumi’s clothing, Lara utilized white chocolate ganache to capture the intricate details of the character’s costume.
“I didn’t realize how detailed her clothing actually was, and it came back to bite me when I began to decorate it at the very end,” Lara humorously noted, referring to the numerous elements present on Rumi’s jacket.
One of the more challenging aspects of the project was replicating Rumi’s makeup. Nonetheless, Lara expressed satisfaction with her final creation. “I am so ecstatic with how this one turned out. I really think I nailed every single part of this,” she stated.
The cake quickly garnered attention on TikTok, with viewers showering Lara with praise. Comments ranged from playful admiration—”Oh, you ATE this”—to heartfelt reactions, including one parent sharing their child’s wish for a cake of their own.
This remarkable cake is the latest in a series of viral moments from the baking community, showcasing the growing trend of edible art inspired by popular culture. As the appetite for creative culinary projects continues to rise, Lara Cakes’ work exemplifies how baking can transcend traditional boundaries, engaging fans of animation and culinary arts alike.
