In addition to livestock counts, overall poultry numbers have also risen, with a reported increase of 14.2 percent in total poultry. The country produced approximately 234.03 million eggs in 2025, showcasing a robust poultry industry. The data also highlights a significant rise in milk production, with a total output of 163.6 million liters in 2025. Cow’s milk constitutes the majority, accounting for 93.6 percent of total milk production, with an average yield of 3.524 liters per cow.
The increase in wool production is also noteworthy, with a total of 226 tons produced during the year. The data collection methodology involved interviews and direct data entry through electronic devices, conducted between November 24 and December 20, 2025. The survey gathered information from family farms and business entities, in accordance with prevailing criteria.
The annual livestock survey sampled 3,574 agricultural households, providing a comprehensive overview of the state of livestock and poultry in Montenegro. This detailed examination is rooted in the Statistical Registry of Agricultural Households (SRPG), ensuring that the findings accurately reflect the current agricultural landscape.
As Montenegro continues to enhance its agricultural outputs, these statistics not only highlight the growth of the livestock sector but also underscore the importance of sustainable farming practices in supporting local economies.
