The luxurious Northern Belle train is set to offer festive journeys from Glasgow this winter, providing a unique experience for those seeking a special holiday gift or outing. Passengers can indulge in a lavish seven-course Christmas lunch while travelling at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour on one of the world’s most opulent trains. This renowned service, a throwback to the golden age of rail travel, will make its return to Glasgow Central Station on November 29 and December 19.

The Northern Belle, a 1930s Pullman-style train that was once part of the illustrious Orient Express group, promises a grand experience starting with a red carpet welcome. Guests will enjoy a selection of gourmet dishes, including an award-winning Great British cheeseboard paired with port, followed by a delectable dessert and a variety of petits fours. Before the main meal, patrons can sip champagne and savour canapés like caviar blinis as the steam train glides through the picturesque countryside.

In addition to the culinary delights, the onboard atmosphere will be enhanced by festive music, with musicians performing holiday tunes throughout the journey. A magician will also entertain guests with seasonal tricks, ensuring a joyful ambiance for all. The organizers emphasize that this unique trip is perfect for couples, families, or even solo travellers looking to meet new friends.

Tickets for the journey are priced at £395 per person, which includes champagne, a bottle of wine for each couple, and the complete seven-course meal. Despite the cost, the experience aboard the Northern Belle is frequently cited among the world’s top ten luxury trains. Notably, one of its intricately decorated carriages was once part of the Royal Train and is said to contain the late Queen Mother’s favourite seat.
