New Issue of “Objectiv” Explores Milestones in Film and TV
The latest issue of the film and television publication Objectiv has been released, celebrating significant milestones in the entertainment industry. The new edition includes critical reviews and analyses of recent works, asserting that the Duffer Brothers are playing too safely in the fifth season of the beloved series Stranger Things.
In this issue, the editorial team examines a range of projects, starting with the film Bugonia, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. The film, featuring performances by Jesse Plemons and Emma Stone, is recognized for its unique portrayal of a world filled with aliens, police, babysitters, and endangered bees, all intertwined in a cloud of misanthropy.
Another highlight is Train Dreams, a stunning adaptation of the novel by Denis Johnson, featuring a powerful performance from Joel Edgerton. The review points to the film’s deeply intimate narrative, which carries a profound, biblical weight that resonates with audiences.
Also featured is the film No Other Choice, directed by Park Chan-wook, known for his dark humor that strikes at the heart of audience emotions. The publication praises this creation for its sharp commentary and significant impact.
In a moving tribute, The Death of Bunny Munro is highlighted as a powerful adaptation of Nick Cave‘s novel. Starring Matt Smith as a neglectful father grappling with addiction, the mini-series has garnered attention for its emotional depth and impactful storytelling.
The issue also reflects on the latest trends in the film industry, noting a rush to conclusion in the overhyped psychological thriller The Beast in Me, featuring Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys. The team evaluates how the film’s attempts at suspense ultimately fell short.
In addition to these reviews, Objectiv marks two significant anniversaries: the 135th birthday of film innovator Fritz Lang and the 30th anniversary of Tim Burton‘s imaginative classic Edward Scissorhands. Both events reflect the lasting impact of their contributions to cinema.
The editorial section, titled Podgoričarenje, celebrates the December festivities and the 40th anniversary of the first performances of FJAT and FIAT plays. It pays homage to Slobodan Milatović, the good spirit of alternative theatre, whose influence continues to be felt.
For a closer look at these discussions and more, the latest issue of Objectiv is now available. Enjoy exploring the diverse and rich landscape of contemporary cinema and television.
