English ‘Pink Ladies’ Hold Anti-Immigration Rally in Belfast
A group of English women known as the Pink Ladies gathered in Belfast on Saturday, March 30, 2024, for an all-female rally opposing immigration. The event took place outside Belfast City Hall and coincided with another significant gathering, the Rally for Iran, demonstrating contrasting political sentiments in the city.
The protest was organized in response to ongoing debates about immigration policies in the UK. Members of the Pink Ladies group traveled from various parts of England to join the Ulster branch, with plans for the event established over a month prior. This marks a continuation of the group’s activism, as they previously garnered attention in November 2025 for distributing pink knuckledusters and leading anti-Islam chants during a similar rally in the same location.
Supporters of the rally expressed their concerns over immigration, voicing their opinions through chants and speeches directed against current policies. The presence of the group has raised discussions about the nature of protests in Northern Ireland and their implications for community relations.
Simultaneously, the Rally for Iran, which advocated for human rights and freedom in Iran, unfolded just a short distance away. The juxtaposition of these two events highlighted the diverse range of political activism taking place in Belfast. While the Pink Ladies focused on immigration issues, the Rally for Iran called for international attention to the plight of Iranian citizens facing oppression.
Local authorities were present to ensure the events remained peaceful. The day concluded without major incidents, although tensions were palpable as the two groups expressed fundamentally opposing views on critical social issues.
The Pink Ladies rally has ignited conversations about the broader implications of such movements and their impact on public sentiment surrounding immigration in the UK. As the nation continues to grapple with the complexities of immigration reform, events like this serve to amplify voices on all sides of the debate.
