Teen Sentenced After Violent Bus Attack on 13-Year-Old

A teenager has been sentenced to ten months in a young offenders institution following a violent incident on a bus in Peterborough. On March 1, 2022, at approximately 21:15, 18-year-old Kyle Cripps approached a 13-year-old boy who was sitting with a friend on a bus traveling along Park Road. Cripps punched the boy in the head and demanded that he hand over his phone and money before stealing his bus pass.

The bus driver intervened, prompting Cripps to leave the vehicle. Police were alerted and quickly responded to the incident. Cripps was arrested shortly thereafter in Cowgate, located in the city centre, following a brief chase.

At Peterborough Crown Court on July 23, 2023, Cripps admitted to the charge of robbery. The court heard about the traumatic experience faced by the young victim, who required medical attention due to bruising sustained from the attack.
