Clinical Centre Suspends Patient Visits Amid Flu Season Concerns

The Clinical Centre of Montenegro has announced a suspension of visits to hospitalized patients due to rising health concerns associated with the flu season. This decision follows recommendations from the Department of Hospital Epidemiology at the Clinical Centre.

In a statement released by the hospital, officials emphasized that information regarding the health status of patients can be obtained by immediate family members—spouses, parents, guardians, or children—via phone daily from 14:00 to 15:00. While direct visits are prohibited, families are permitted to deliver essential items to patients. This can be done at the main building’s information desk, as well as at the Institute for Children’s Diseases, the Institute of Oncology, and various clinics, including those for psychiatry, dermatology, and infectious diseases. Deliveries will be accepted daily from 12:00 to 14:00, and staff will ensure that items reach patients the same day between 14:00 and 16:00.

The Clinical Centre has highlighted that, according to the latest epidemiological data from the Public Health Institute of Montenegro (IJZCG) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), an earlier onset of the flu season and an increase in respiratory infections are expected. This situation poses a heightened risk of severe clinical forms of illness, particularly among hospitalized patients.

The ban on visits will remain in effect until the epidemiological situation improves. The Clinical Centre has assured the public that updates will be provided promptly. They have also urged citizens to understand the necessity of these measures and to adhere to recommended prevention guidelines to reduce the risk of flu infections.

As the flu season approaches, health authorities are taking proactive steps to protect vulnerable populations. This suspension aims to mitigate potential outbreaks and ensure the safety of both patients and healthcare staff at the Clinical Centre.
