Former German Footballer Sebastian Hertner Dies in Ski Lift Accident

A tragic accident at a ski resort in Montenegro claimed the life of former German footballer Sebastian Hertner, aged 34. Hertner was visiting the Durmitor ski area with his wife when he fell from a ski lift at Savin Kuk. His wife sustained injuries in the incident, which occurred in the early afternoon.

Reports indicate that the lift malfunctioned, causing several tourists to fall from their seats. Following the accident, the ski lift was shut down, leaving three tourists stranded for hours in their seats on a steep section of the slope. ETSV Hamburg, Hertner’s current club, confirmed the unfortunate news. Hertner began his football career in the youth academy of VfB Stuttgart and represented Germany at various youth levels, playing seven matches. Throughout his career, he played for several clubs, including Erzgebirge Aue in the 2. Bundesliga, 1860 Munich, and Darmstadt.
