Montenegrin Theatrical Release of “Belo se pere na devedeset” Set for March
The much-anticipated film “Belo se pere na devedeset” will premiere in Montenegro on March 5, 2025. The screening will take place at the “Sinepleks” cinema in Podgorica and at the Cultural Center in Tivat on March 9. This film, a minority co-production from Montenegro, has garnered significant acclaim in Slovenia, becoming the most-watched film of 2025 in the country.
Achieving remarkable success, “Belo se pere na devedeset” surpassed 100,000 viewers in Slovenian cinemas, outperforming all foreign competition at the box office. The film’s release in other Montenegrin cities is expected towards the end of the month, further expanding its reach.
Film Details and Creative Team
Directed by Marko Naberšnik, the film is based on the autobiographical novel of the same name by renowned Slovenian author Bronja Žakelj. The book, published in 2018, quickly became a literary phenomenon in Slovenia and the surrounding region. It delves into themes of growing up, love, loss, and the struggles of life in the context of the turbulent social landscape of the 1980s and 1990s in Yugoslavia. The narrative is told through the eyes of a female protagonist facing various life challenges, seeking strength during pivotal moments.
The film features a talented ensemble cast including Lea Cok, Jurij Zrnec, and Tjaša Železnik, among others. It is an international co-production involving Slovenia, Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia. Produced by Slovenian company Perfo Production, the Montenegrin production house Protos Film contributed as a minority co-producer. The project also received support from the Filmski centar Crne Gore.
