Two Arrested After High-Speed Police Chase in Willenhall

A police pursuit in Willenhall resulted in the arrest of two suspects following a dangerous high-speed chase. On September 25, 2023, officers from West Midlands Police attempted to stop a Mazda that had been reported stolen the previous day from Broad Lane North. The driver, however, chose to accelerate, reaching speeds of up to 80 mph in a zone where the limit was just 30 mph.

The chase unfolded during the early hours, with traffic officers observing the vehicle as it navigated narrow streets, running red lights and narrowly avoiding collisions. According to a spokesperson from West Midlands Police, “Traffic officers were out on patrol when they spotted a Mazda in Willenhall which they knew had been stolen the day before.”

The situation escalated quickly as the vehicle failed to pull over for the police, leading to a pursuit that lasted until around 12:30 a.m. The specially trained traffic team was able to apprehend the driver before further incidents could occur.

Authorities arrested a 49-year-old man on multiple charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, and disqualified driving. In addition, he faces charges related to attempted theft and theft from a shop. A second suspect, aged 37, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of an offensive weapon.

The police have emphasized the risks associated with such reckless driving. The spokesperson added that the incident highlights the dangers posed when drivers choose to evade law enforcement.

Both individuals are now in custody as investigations continue, and police urge anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward.
