Disney Casts Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider in Live-Action ‘Tangled’
Disney has officially announced that Milo Manheim will portray Flynn Rider in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Tangled. This casting decision has generated significant excitement among fans, who believe Manheim embodies the charisma and energy that defined the beloved character in the original animated film. Alongside Manheim, Australian actress Teagan Croft has been cast as Rapunzel, marking a return for one of Disney’s most cherished modern princesses.
The film is scheduled to premiere in cinemas in July 2026, according to Disney’s official casting announcement. This adaptation will be directed by Michael Gracey, known for his work on The Greatest Showman, with a screenplay crafted by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and produced by Kristin Burr.
Milo Manheim: A Natural Fit for Flynn Rider
Flynn Rider is remembered for his blend of charm, humor, and depth. Initially portrayed as a roguish thief, his journey with Rapunzel reveals a more sincere side beneath his confident exterior. Manheim’s experience in Disney projects, particularly his role in the Zombies franchise, has made him a familiar figure among younger audiences. His appearance on Dancing with the Stars further showcased his charisma and stage presence.
These attributes align closely with Flynn’s character, which combines action-hero confidence with a playful vulnerability. Fans have already begun to circulate images capturing Manheim’s potential as Flynn, highlighting his charm and relatability.
Progressing with Disney’s Live-Action Adaptation
The original Tangled, released in 2010, was a commercial success, grossing over $591 million worldwide. It inspired various spin-offs, including Tangled Ever After and the Disney Channel series Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure. The live-action adaptation had previously been put on hold following the mixed reviews of Disney’s live-action Snow White, but with the lead roles now confirmed, the project is moving forward.
Manheim’s casting reflects Disney’s strategy of introducing fresh talent into its live-action remakes, opting for actors who resonate with the studio’s audience rather than relying solely on established stars. This approach appears fitting for Flynn Rider, whose character is youthful, energetic, and somewhat unpredictable.
With the confirmed casting of Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim taking on the role of Flynn, fans now have a clearer vision of what to expect from this new rendition of Tangled. As anticipation builds towards the film’s release in 2026, it is evident that Manheim possesses the charm and modern appeal that will make him a convincing Flynn Rider.
