Average Brit Owns Up to 20 Sex Toys, Survey Reveals Surprising Trends
Recent findings from a survey conducted by Rocks Off indicate that many Britons have developed a substantial collection of sex toys. The survey revealed that approximately 47.4% of respondents own between seven and nine sex toys, while another 10.5%47% of participants identified it as their “favourite sex toy.” Other popular choices included clit suckers, cock rings, and vibrators. When it comes to the primary motivations for using these toys, 57.9% reported that they help them achieve climax. Many also noted that these items add variety to their intimate lives, while a smaller group, 15.8%, humorously admitted to using them out of “laziness.”
Usage frequency varied, with the majority of respondents indicating they utilize their toys at least once a week. Some even reported using them daily.
Understanding the Need for a Diverse Collection
To delve deeper into the rationale behind owning multiple sex toys, Annabelle Knight, a sex and relationship expert with Lovehoney, offered insights. Knight explained that a single toy cannot satisfy every mood or desire. She emphasized that pleasure is diverse and evolves over time, leading many individuals to build their collections much like they would with skincare or fitness equipment.
“Different toys provide various sensations and intensities,” Knight said. “Having options allows individuals to select what feels right in the moment.”
While the survey results may suggest a trend towards extensive collections, Knight reassured readers that owning multiple sex toys is not a necessity. She pointed out that a well-rounded collection does not require quantity but rather versatility.
Essential Items for a Balanced Collection
For those interested in expanding their selection, Knight recommended focusing on key essentials rather than quantity. Her ideal assortment includes:
1. A reliable external stimulation toy for straightforward pleasure.
2. A suction or air-pulse toy, which offers a distinct experience compared to traditional vibrators.
3. A couple’s toy designed for shared pleasure, fostering communication and intimacy.
4. High-quality lubricant, considered essential for comfort and enhanced enjoyment.
5. A playful or fantasy-themed item, which allows for imagination and curiosity without pressure.
Knight concluded that these items together create a supportive collection for self-discovery, providing options that cater to personal preferences and making the experience of pleasure feel relaxed and positive.
As attitudes towards sex toys become more open and accepting, the findings from the Rocks Off survey illustrate a growing trend among Britons to explore and enjoy their sexuality through various means. Whether one chooses to own a single item or a larger collection, the key takeaway is that pleasure should always be personalized and enjoyable.
